Hi, I'm Maris
But you probably already knew that from here.
My name’s pronounced like Paris, but with an M. My family even made up a saying so they wouldn’t forget it. “Maris, Maris from Paris.” Which is a lie cuz I’m from Texas. Not even Paris, Texas. Although I have been to Paris once. The France one, not the Texas one.
I live in Austin, Texas now and yes, depending on where you are, the stars at night are big and bright (CLAP, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP). Which I love.
I go to Juiceland a lot, have one homemade iced oat milk latte in the mornings, and my favorite place, probably ever, is my bed. (Okay, that’s an exaggeration – I only go to Juiceland every couple weeks now.)
I love crafting, especially dazzling diamond art pieces that usually take me way too long to finish. The colors of flowers, and the ocean, and smiling at old people on the street all make me very happy. And I get really excited when someone brings me an ice cold Coke Zero…with extra ice if you love me.
It’s also important for you to know that my bar for comedy is Adam Sandler, and if that makes you groan, I’m sorry your funny bone is defective. I admire his talent for being able to make people laugh and feel something a little deeper, all in one project. Something I hope to do in my work too.
I guess that’s why it always makes me really happy when people laugh at something I say or write. And I owe my budding sense of humor to little Maris in all her awkwardness, rocking her glasses and braces. (I’m trusting you with this.)
